Real Home Boarding — Not a Kennel. Maximum 3 Pets. Multiple Daily Walks Included.
What Is Thumping Tails Dog Boarding? What Is Thumping Tails Dog Boarding?
Thumping Tails provides home-based dog boarding throughout Southern Westchester County, NY — including Harrison, Scarsdale, Rye, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, White Plains, Port Chester, Rye Brook, Purchase, and West Harrison — and in Fairfield County, CT, including Greenwich. Your dog stays in a real home with a dedicated pet companion, not in a kennel or commercial facility. Each boarding home takes a maximum of 3 pets, includes multiple daily walks, feedings on your dog’s schedule, oral medication administration, and real-time updates. One month’s notice is recommended; last-minute bookings are often possible.
A Kennel Is Not the Only Option — And for Most Dogs, It’s Not the Best One
Dog kennels serve a purpose. But for many dogs — especially those who are anxious, older, used to a home routine, or simply social by nature — a commercial boarding facility is a genuinely stressful experience. The noise, the confinement, the unfamiliar smells, the absence of human connection for long stretches of the day. Dogs communicate their discomfort in ways owners notice the moment they’re picked up: the weight loss, the exhaustion, the clingy behavior that takes days to settle.
Thumping Tails offers something different. Your dog stays in a real home — with a sofa, a yard, a daily routine, and a pet companion who is actually there. Not rotating staff. Not a kennel run. A home, with someone who genuinely wants your dog to be comfortable and happy while you’re away.
We’ve been providing home boarding across Southern Westchester and Fairfield County since 2018, serving over 150 families. Our boarding homes accept a maximum of 3 pets at a time — because that limit is what makes the difference between real care and managed capacity.
What’s Included in Every Boarding Stay
Every Thumping Tails boarding stay comes with a consistent set of care standards — not a base package with add-ons for the basics.
- Multiple daily walks — Your dog is walked several times throughout the day, not just let out in a yard. Longer walks are available for high-energy dogs. We keep your dog moving and mentally stimulated.
- Meals on your schedule — Your dog eats what they normally eat, when they normally eat it. We follow your feeding routine exactly, including portion sizes and any dietary requirements
- Oral medication administration — Dogs on daily medications are fully accommodated. Let us know at booking what’s needed and we’ll make sure every dose is given correctly and on time.
- Real home environment — Your dog sleeps inside, has space to move around, and experiences the rhythms of a normal household day — not the sensory overload of a busy kennel.
- Constant human presence — Our pet companions are home-based. Your dog is not left alone in a facility between staff shifts — there is someone there with them throughout the day.
- Regular updates — You’ll receive updates and photos during your dog’s stay so you can travel or work with genuine peace of mind, not just hope.
- Maximum 3 pets per home — This is not a volume operation. The cap exists because it’s what allows us to give every dog the individual attention they deserve.

Booking Note — Space Is Genuinely Limited
Because each boarding home accepts a maximum of 3 pets, availability fills up quickly — especially around holidays, school breaks, and summer travel season. We recommend booking at least one month in advance for planned trips.

Which Dogs Do Best With Home Boarding?
Home boarding works well for most dogs — but it’s particularly well-suited to dogs who fall into any of these categories:
- Anxious or sensitive dogs — Dogs who struggle in noisy, crowded environments thrive when boarding in a calm home setting with limited animals and consistent human company.
- Senior dogs — Older dogs benefit from a home environment that maintains their routine, keeps them comfortable, and accommodates any health or mobility needs without the chaos of a kennel.
- Dogs who are used to being indoors — Dogs who sleep on the couch and spend their days close to their owners adapt far better to home boarding than kennel confinement.
- Dogs on daily medication — Our pet companions administer oral medications correctly and on schedule — something many kennels either cannot or will not accommodate.
- Dogs who have never boarded before — A first boarding experience in a home environment is significantly less stressful than a first kennel stay, and sets a positive precedent for future trips
