Dog Walker New York

Your Dog Needs More Than a Quick Trip Outside

A walk isn’t just a bathroom break. For dogs, it’s the main event — the physical outlet, the mental stimulation, and the social experience that shapes how they feel and behave for the rest of the day. A well-walked dog is calmer at home, less destructive, less anxious, and genuinely happier. A dog that doesn’t get enough exercise shows it — through chewing, barking, pacing, and the kind of restless energy that makes a long workday feel even longer when you get home.

At Thumping Tails, we get it. You’re busy. Your schedule doesn’t always leave room for a 45-minute walk at noon, and some days it’s a win just to get out the door in the morning. That’s exactly what we’re here for — to make sure your dog never misses the walk they need, regardless of what your day looks like.

We’ve been serving over 150 families across Southern Westchester and Fairfield County since 2018. Our team of experienced, background-checked pet companions treats every dog like their own — because to us, that’s not a tagline, it’s how we actually operate.

🐕 How Our Dog Walking Service Works

  • GPS-Tracked Routes — You’ll know exactly where your dog went and when the walk started and ended. No wondering, no guessing.
  • Real-Time Photo Updates — We send “happy tail” photo updates during every walk so you can see how your pup is doing while you’re at work, running errands, or traveling.
  • Flexible Walk Lengths — Choose the option that fits your dog’s energy level and your schedule: 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. We’ll help you pick the right fit if you’re not sure.
  • Personalized Care — Every dog has a different pace, personality, and set of needs. Whether your dog is a senior who likes a gentle stroll, a young lab who needs a serious workout, or an anxious rescue who needs a calm, patient handler — we tailor every walk accordingly.

Playdates — Socialization Done Right

Not every outing needs to be a solo walk. Thumping Tails playdates are structured social experiences designed to safely introduce dogs to new friends and build lasting canine friendships — under the supervision of an experienced pet companion who knows how to read dog behavior and keep interactions positive.

  • Always 30 minutes or longer — Playdates are never rushed. Dogs need time to warm up, settle into the social dynamic, and actually enjoy the interaction.
  • Flexible locations — Playdates can take place at a client’s home (backyard play, fetch, or free run), at a neutral location, or as a group walk with canine friends — whatever works best for the dogs involved.
  • Backyard play included — Fetch, free play, and supervised yard time are all part of what a playdate can look like. We follow the dogs’ energy and keep the session positive throughout.
  • Car travel required — Clients booking playdates should be comfortable with their dog traveling by car. Please let us know at booking if your dog has any travel sensitivities.
  • Supervised introductions — Every playdate pairing is handled with care. Our pet companions are experienced in reading dog body language and ensuring every introduction is safe and set up for success.

Drop-In Visits — Care Beyond the Dog

Not everything in a pet-owning household has four legs and needs a walk. Thumping Tails drop-in visits are designed for households with fish, small animals, birds, reptiles, or any other pets that need a check-in, feeding, or some attention while you’re away. Drop-ins are also ideal for plant watering, mail collection, or a quick household check when you just need someone to stop by.

  • 15-minute visit — A focused, efficient check-in: feeding, fresh water, a quick health check, and any other specific tasks you’ve outlined. Right for low-maintenance pets and simple household needs.
  • 30-minute visit — More time for pets that need a little extra attention, multiple feeding tasks, cage cleaning, or a household that needs a bit more than a quick stop.
  • Non-dog pets covered — Fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, rabbits — if it lives in your home and needs looking after, we can help.
  • Household tasks included — Drop-ins can include plant watering, mail and package collection, and a quick security check of the home while we’re there

Before-Work. Lunch Break. Evening. Whenever.

One of the most common things we hear from new clients: “I didn’t realize how much I needed this until I had it.” Thumping Tails fits into your schedule — not the other way around.

  • Before-work walks so your dog is calm and settled when you leave for the office, not anxious and wound up.
  • Midday visits for dogs who are home alone during long work days and need a break, a walk, and some company.
  • Evening walks on the nights when work runs late, the commute is brutal, or you simply need the help.
  • Recurring or as-needed — set up a regular weekly schedule, or book as life requires. We’re here either way.
